Heraldry

What is Heraldry?

Heraldry is the art and science of recording armorial bearings.  Much more than this, it’s describing, displaying and studying coats of arms, flags, badges, crests and banners displaying Blazonry.

Alongside all of this, come the laws, rules and ceremonial aspects of their proper usage, right to display and inheritance governed by regulatory bodies in the UK.

Coats of Arms belong to the individual, not a surname.  It’s important to make this distinction.as there are a number of ‘Heraldry for Sale’ type sites out there offering people the opportunity buy the ‘family crest’ relating to their surname, when they could be unwittingly breaking arms laws by displaying such coats of arms.

Why Heraldry?

I’ve recently gained a large respect of and interest in Semiotics within Heraldry. I’m still studying their importance and significance within past and current cultures, but such is the interest I have taken from this study, I have decided to include such requests for information and research as part of my overall Genealogical  Services.

How can I help?

Do you have a Coat of Arms that needs identifying? Did you want to try and discover whether you are a direct descendant of someone of noble background?  Perhaps there was a family story about a nobility in the family and you wish to solve the mystery or dispel the myth?  I can put a custom package together to help answer some of these questions
